Mama Rosie was a giver and always sowed into our lives, especially the grandchildren. She baked the best Macaroni ever made and at Family Day gatherings this was the number one request! Mama Rosie had a passion for gardening and spent much time in her beautiful garden which gave me profound inspiration to write. I always looked forward to visits to sit and speak with her while listening to her powerful words of wisdom. However, I could not leave unless I spent some time in her beautiful garden.
Mama Rosie returned from the hospital. She said, “Margaret, my travelling days are over! Jesus is holding my hand.” She did not mince her words and exemplified courage and strength while she looked away. Mama Rosie’s words are a comfort to me as is the harsh reality really sunk in that, she is gone. Which saddens me to the core of my being and reminded of daddy's words in a dream before his passing. On the phone was Mama Rosie, she said, Margaret, Daddy wants to speak with you. His words, Margaret, I am going away! Go to the bank and bring me, one thousand dollars in one dollar, what a dream. While weeping came a grip of bare truth. The Patriarch and Matriarch of the family was gone! Daddy was saying in the dream, Margaret, I need you to grow up because I am leaving. Mama Rosie was telling me goodbye, and her testimony was saying, Margaret, be strong and courageous, Jesus is holding your hand. I turned my face toward her window and cried. Mama Rosie, I love you! Her response, “Margaret, I know you love me!” Her travelling days have ended here on earth but Mama Rosie’s loving spirit holds lots of wonderful intangible moments in our hearts.
Mama Rosie’s travelling days of being on earth has ended but her gentle loving spirit holds lots of wonderful intangible moments in our hearts!
